Solair AI is a private, local-by-default AI assistant for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. By default every prompt, response, and piece of context stays on the device: Solair has no servers of its own, no accounts, and no analytics. The app is built on Apple's MLX framework and runs 60+ quantized open-source models from Qwen3.5, Llama, Mistral, Gemma 4, DeepSeek R1 distills, LFM2.5, and others at 60+ tokens per second on supported hardware, with smart automatic model selection based on device RAM. New in version 3.0, users can optionally connect frontier cloud providers (Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Kimi, Cerebras, DeepSeek, Mistral, Groq, OpenRouter, Together AI) with their own API key. Those requests go directly to the provider, so Solair is never a middleman, and saved memory and past chats stay on the device unless the user turns on "Share memory & past chats". Beyond chat, Solair includes Health Intelligence (15+ Apple HealthKit metrics analyzed locally); News Intelligence (AI-summarized live news from Google News, AP, BBC, and Reuters in 14 languages); Skills, reusable AI presets like Code Reviewer or Email Polisher that users can create, share, or generate from a description; Background Intelligence, an opt-in set of features that use Apple Intelligence to surface morning briefs, weekly health digests, and chat summaries while the app is closed; a LAN Inference Server that turns an iPhone or iPad into an OpenAI- and Ollama-compatible endpoint for tools like Cursor and Open WebUI; a Duress Code that silently wipes data under coercion; and Your Private Space for journaling and emotional support that never leaves the device. - Local and private by default: After the initial model download, on-device models work in airplane mode with nothing sent anywhere. Cloud providers are optional and opt-in, reached directly with the user's own API key only when a user chooses to connect one.
- Optional AI Providers (new in 3.0): Connect frontier cloud models from Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Kimi, Cerebras, DeepSeek, Mistral, Groq, OpenRouter, and Together AI with your own API key. On-device voice keeps audio on the phone, while live voice with ChatGPT and Grok streams audio to that provider by choice.
